What is the Discord widget?
The Discord widget is a Discord icon that will be visible in the bottom right hand corner of your screen when playing select games on Kongregate.com. Clicking the Discord icon will pop out a small window of Discord chat that you can interact with. When you chat here, you will be chatting in a Discord channel on the Kongregate Discord server. This means you can participate in our online community directly from Kongregate.com!
Where can I use it?
Currently, only a select few games support the widget. However, we have plans to expand the feature to more games in the future.
How can I use it?
To participate in chat, sign in to your Discord account using the widget and it will handle the rest. Any permissions (or warnings and bans) your account has on our server will be applied.
Why would I use it???
The answer can depend a lot on the game, but so far players have been asking each other for help, sharing their tips and tactics, and just generally being social.
Why does it label people as BOT?
Discord takes user safety seriously and labels messages that come from bots to help people avoid online trickery. If you see the BOT label next to a username on the widget or in that widget's related channel, that's Discord telling you that a bot is the one sending these messages on someone's behalf. Don't worry, there's likely a real person on the other end of the conversation!
Why can’t I turn off notifications?
We have received multiple suggestions to remove the notifications or at least give players the option. Widgetbot is a third-party tool and so we don't have the same access to it as we do the other features on the site. We've shared your feedback with the bot's developers, but for the time being, there is no way to disable notifications.
