As an online retailer, we are responsible for detecting and preventing credit card fraud. If we did not do this, we would not be permitted to continue offering Paypal or credit cards as payment options.
Purchases and accounts in our system are checked daily for potentially fraudulent activity. Accounts that are deemed potentially compromised are flagged for Kongregate staff review. If the staff person is unable to determine the original owner of an account based on account information and recent payment details, we send a notice to the email address listed on the account. The account owner must contact us to verify the recent purchases made on the account.
If we do not receive verification within 5-7 days of the email, we may temporarily ban your account in order to force contact.
If we still do not receive verification that clears the account within 5-7 days after that, the account may be permanently banned and the recent purchases under review may be refunded.
How do I verify the purchases on the account?
To verify credit card purchases, please have the card holder email support at support@kongregate.com from their own email account with the following -
- The account username
- Their full name
- A comment that states the purchases on the account were authorized by them.
PLEASE NOTE: If you used a gift card to make a purchase we are asking you to verify, please have the person listed on the gift card contact us to verify the purchase.
To verify Paypal purchases, please have the card holder write to us from the email account associated with their Paypal with the following -
- The account username
- A comment that states the purchases on the account were authorized by them.
Can an account that has been permanently banned for "purchasing issues" due to failure to verify potentially compromised payments be recovered?
- No - accounts banned for this reason cannot be recovered.
